Xbox 360 owners have plenty to look forward to in 2009, according to Microsoft's UK head of gaming and entertainment, Stephen McGill. The gaming guru admitted there was "lots of great stuff" coming in 2009 that people "don't know about" during an interview with VideoGamer.com
The comments will come as welcome news to the Xbox 360 faithful who've been starved of news of late on the console's line-up for the year ahead.
While there's been plenty of pre-Xmas fanfare about the remaining releases of 2008 - gamers can look forward to getting their thumbs round titles like blockbuster gore-fest Gears of War 2 and Fall Out 3 - fears were rising about what was on the cards for 2009.
Commenting on the release schedule for 2009, McGill said: "Most of them [the games], in fact, have not been announced because everyone's very focused on what's out for Christmas. So it would do our third party partners a disservice for me to announce their great line-ups before they're ready to."
"We've announced things like Halo Wars coming out in the Spring, Halo 3: Recon later next year, Resident Evil 5 is coming to the platform. Very soon at some point we'll have the exclusive content for Grand Theft Auto on Xbox 360. So there's lots of great stuff coming in 2009 that people know about. Lots more, I'm sure that they don't know about."
And when pushed on whether Microsoft had any big surprises up their sleeves for the new year, McGill added: "You could expect that, yeah absolutely."
